Today is the Buddha’s Day – May 2nd, 2009

E-mail Print PDF

Today is the Buddha’s day- it is the day the Lord was born, attained enlightenment, as well as the day he entered parinibbana. This is the day all the Buddhists around the world should pay due reverence to the Buddha and practice diligently his teachings. Offerings can also be made to the temples and relics. Homage should be paid to the triple gem.

May one raises faith and diligence in mind, setup the four foundations of mindfulness, meditate faithfully and diligently on the rising and falling of phenomenon, and thus realize the Eightfold Noble’s Path, to the other shore – Nibbana .

May the worldly beings be free from suffering and misery, and attain nibbanic peace, be free from cankers and defilements.

Homage to the Buddha, the all-enlightened Arahant.
Homage to the Dhamma, which is perfect in the beginning, in the middle, and in the end.
Homage to the Sangha, who are pure in deeds and noble in minds.

Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!

Quotes

" "All conditioned phenomena are impermanent"; when one sees this with Insight-wisdom, one becomes weary of dukkha (i.e., the khandhas). This is the Path to Purity. "
